Cadillac is turning their attention to racing as the company has just wrapped up testing of the new CTS-V Racing Coupe.

Set to enter competition on Saturday, at the Streets of St. Petersburg, the CTS will battle other contenders in the highly-competitive Sports Car Club of America World Challenge GT series. It will be driven by Johnny O'Connell and Andy Pilgrim, who are no strangers to racing as O'Connell is a three-time GT1 champion in the America Le Mans Series and Pilgrim claimed victory in the 2005 SCCA World Challenge GT class.

As for the car itself, it features an aerodynamic carbon fiber body and a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 535 hp (399 kW / 542 PS). While this is 21 hp (16 kW / 21 PS) less than the standard CTS-V Coupe, the car weighs 1,000 pounds (454 kg) less than the production model.

According to O'Connell, "The CTS-V Coupe racecar has been very nimble during testing and seems to brake very well. I not only expect it to do well on a street circuit, but everywhere we compete."

  • Yay! Welcome to iRacing Mr. CTS-V!!

  • @RamboRepublican Ok, you got a point there. Nowdays there arent that much new breathtaking cars anymore. The CTS-V look is rather polarising. I like strong line like the old Chargers had, but the CTS-V looks rather angular for it´s performance. It give´s the charm of an understatement car thought. Especially because vitually nobody here has seen one around, so nobody knows what´s lurking under the bonnet as well.

    It´s kind of a exotic here ^^)

  • @Helldorado2008

I guess we have very different taste. I think the CTS-V is the best looking car out right now, not counting "supercars" like Lambos, etc.

Every other car looks pretty much the same. They just take a standard rounded off 90s body and change the grill logo, whether it's Lexus or Ford or whatever. Even the Corvette looks boring and dull nowadays, like something built by Mazda in the early '90s (totally round, no edges). The CTS-V is just beautiful.

  • You dont buy a CTS-V for it´s looks. Let´s be honest, it´s ugly.

But the engine makes MORE than up for that!

  • @sktrsam2 FUCK YOU ASSHOLE Y DONT U SHOVE A SKATEBOARD UP YOUR UGLY FAT LOOSE ASS

  • i just splurged in my pants

  • Man thats fucking sweet

  • @dubphonix im sure the road car is much quieter ;)

  • I'm going to have to buy another die-cast, lol!
