The line "I'm not going to believe in something without any proof" is just ignorant. You do, promise. Think of time. Do we have proof that any concept of time, beyond the symbols and representations of it (which the Church have as well; there are historical records of acts upon faith) actually exists in some capacity? By your logic, any paradigm of a functioning universe that can be measured shouldn't have any value. There is no "proof" a second is a second albeit the measurement of that second.

God claims that He cannot be encompassed through our knowledge. And because you cant encompass Him in your knowledge, you claim that He is of no use, or even that He doesn't exist.
