I just realized my small collection of uploads on Youtube did not include any examples of my musical endeavors, err, well I mean, piano-wise (there is the whole rap chop remix thing and the murlocks and the mGLAYVin... anyway most of that stuff is just more for fun anyway).

This is a piece I wrote some-odd years back. It's called Reminiscence and is the eponymous title track of my album, 'Reminiscence'.

The real places to go for more of my work though would be:

www.soundclick.com/michael.stuart.martel and
www.facebook.com/pages/Michael-Stuart-Martel-pianistcomposer/189518491080781 (that's directly to the artist page) or more simply:
www.facebook.com/michael.stuart.martel (to get to my personal page, from which there should be a link somewhere to my artist page... one would think).

That said, I do (slightly) warn ye, I haven't updated the music content in quite some time. (Damn you, composer's block!)

And to answer a potential question: It is self recorded, meaning it's I who am performing the piece, as well as handling all the recording and post-processing and such, however due to either Youtube and/or probably more likely my ineptness at video editing (I'm still learning), you are not getting the full audio quality. I believe it's been reduced to MP3 112kbps.

For some reason, that was the highest MP3 quality selection I could find while exporting from Sony Vegas. Video program tips are always welcome, as the whole video thing is not my primary hobby, and like I said, I still have plenty to learn.

It is also to note that the image in the video is no longer the front CD art I'll be using when I print more of the CD. As you can see, I was initially going by both the nickname my friends forced upon me back in circa 2002 or 2003ish, as well as my full name, listed in smaller font at the bottom.

I decided, screw that, since there simply isn't the time or place to explain to everyone that it was a nickname given by people other than myself (I protested slightly at first, but it just stuck).

Point is, although I do like my nickname these days (even my parents call me miku like half the time), it's really more a name for my friends to refer to me, and I don't want it to be the 'stage name' if you will, for my piano CDs. Mainly, I don't want to be pretentious in anyway, so I'm just using my full, parental-given name here-on out.

Anyway, if you're actually reading all of this, sorry for all the babbling and babbling. I suck at brevity a lot of the time as you can see.

My favorite things in life are pretty much music and video games (and Jennifer too, I love you).

  • @tehmikuji That is.. [I sort of would expect] at least some of those people [to comment about why, if applicable, they didn't like it].

It'd be nice. I -do- appreciate constructive criticism.

  • I notice this video has two dislikes (as well as two likes). If someone dislikes this, would they (in the future) be so kind as to leave a comment explaining why?

I presume it's because there is no video? Because, not to sound pompous, but, let's hear you compose something better if you're not going to explain your dislike.

I understand fully that if you're going to share something with the world, there will be some who don't like it; I just expect those people to give constructive feedback.
