two of my brass dead bolts started to rust after only 6 months

Your video was very helpful! I was able to rotate the position of the cylinder of my door locks so that the key slot is now in the 6 o'clock position. Thanks!

You need to show in more detail how to release the spindle. Otherwise, nice video.

HELP! Great video! I am unable to get the retainer for the spindle to depress. I have the kwikset cylinder removing tool. The model of lockset is 740CHI RH 15 RCAL RCS BBPKG. I have wondered how it was done for years, now I know. Bought the Kwikset rekey 272 set. Just bought all new locks (knobs to levers - arthur-itus ha ha). Thanks in advance. I hope someone can return the favor you have done us here.

You really don't need the cylinder removal tool,I was able to do this just fine with the handle of a small file =D

thanks alot ive just got done repinning a corbin cylinder and moved onto my kwiksets needed for tomorrows jobs and had no idea how the heck to get the cylinder out
Keep in mind that the 740 models are a bit different than the model in this video. Turn the spindle then depress the retainer but do not use the forked end inside. After removing the spindle, insert your key and turn it (into the cylinder) as you pull.

Keep in mind that the 740 models are assembled differently. The spindle is still removed the same way but the cylinder can't be removed like the one in this video. You insert the key into the cylinder and turn as you pull until it comes out - after the spindle is removed. Make sure you turn the spindle as shown or the retainer won't depress.
