i was elated when she sang this. felt united.

I don't think it's about worship. I think this captures exactly what I felt: The renewal of faith not in one person but in the system. Not expecting a deity but surprised to find a human being who really cared like we did. It never meant we were entering utopia or electing a saint. It's just the first breath of good air after having spent eight years drowning. It's still just air, but compared to the alternative, it's something to rejoice.

I get that it was momentous and I understand the disbelief a lot of people have that finally Bush is out and Obama is in, the first minority to be elected to that office in the US, but he's not a f-cking messiah! I like him, but I'm not about to give him an altar.

It really worries me when people hold politicians up to a godlike status like this... imagine what they could get away with!

It's a good tune but I just can't get behind the lyrics at all.

i was at a loss for words when obama was elected. this song sums up the elation i couldn't describe. proud once again to be an american.
