Ref screwed up. This was not done on purpose. Inadvertent whistle, replay the down. That was the correct decision after he messed up

The ref happened to be directly behind the snapper. Both the Qb AND the referee were not expecting the snap. It was either touch the ball or get hit with it, so he stopped it from hitting him.

It was a very strange play. Lone Oak DID win going away, but at the time that play happened, it was 19-0 NB. They would get 2 points plus the ball. If they went up 28-0, that's kind of a crusher.
Instead, LO marched down the field and scored. The complexion of the game totally changed.
