Sounds like a good idea, right? the thing is.. we don't have a choice in this, your old meter will be replaced with this new technology and will be linked into a computer database at your electric company that can be monitored and controlled. Not only will they be able to monitor the total output of energy from your home, but EACH appliance that runs on electricity as well. That makes me a bit uncomfortable. Ideas like this make me want to get off the grid completely and run self-sufficiently.
