Wow, talk about easy LOL. Very nice work, I bow to you oh Great Photoshop Master.
I think I'm addicted to fantasy cartography now. Hand drawing is nice, but very time consuming for excellent results. As a photographer, I'm very familiar with Photoshop but this video series has taught me an awful lot about accelerating my work flow.

oh wow, i've always wanted to make my coastlines much more interesting, always wanted to do something like this and i didn't know how simple it was to do it, thanks

So you've got a layer mask that's hiding areas where the mask is white and revealing them where the mask is black?

Oh, I've got a problem too. When I try to use the second stroke, nothing happens. Would a few box checks solve this problem?

I can't say for sure. Off the top of my head, if you're working at a high resolution, you might try Expanding more than 4 pixels.

I was experimenting a little bit, and I think it's a little bit faster if you use Clouds for that, with a light and dark green background and foreground. The techniques you cover in the lessons, though, are still better off nonrepetitive.

There ARE faster ways to do a lot of these! I try to only use Clouds when I'm not really concerned about the exact results. I painted in the continents because, while I do like the little imperfections I get with the watercolor brush, I need to make sure that the continent is filled right out to the coastline.

I do have a little problem. when Im using the layer mask its colouring in the area that should be (according to the vid) the ocean area (the white parts, which dont get coloured when you do the same thing._) whats going on there?

Oh, and in case you're not the same person I answered this same question for over on my website, make sure that you click on your layer thumbnail so you're painting on it rather than on the layer mask! You'll see a little outline appear around either the layer or the layer mask that'll show you which one you're editing.
