I was actually at this game, my first sixers game ever. I was 10. I will never ever forget the ending.
Earlier in the game, I think it was Parish, got into a brawl. I thought two guys got kicked out but i can't remember who.

I love basketball. I don't care what color somebody is. Bird could play in a way that nobody else could. Dr. J could play in a way nobody else could. Both players had their own style. In my opinion a case could be made for either as the greatest of all time. Their match ups were legendary. If you can not see that then you are a racest. You don't have to be WHITE to be racist. Stop the hate.

The jealousy seems to come from a fan base that is (and was) mostly white being irritated by black guys succeeding in sports. The fan base of the NFL & NBA are largely white. That is why it was necessary to take a great player like Bird and give him as much exposure as possible. Because old white guys were too insecure to continue cheering for black guys. They wanted to see more people that looked like them.

And a lot of people make excuses for Bird because of his skin. Really when it comes down to it, too many people go over board about Bird because he is white. Funny how any success in life by a white person is due to hard work. But any success by a black guy in sports is due to genetics. Whenever I hear people so vehemently defend Bird I wonder if it is really about Bird, or about race.
