I wonder how you say "Oh no you di'int!" in Japanese. Probably sounds something like, "You THOUGHT you were gonna beat Momochi's Gouki, loser."

Is Shiro Brief the same person as Shiro? i know it sounds dumb but you never know.

High end players like Momochi can definitely figure out their opponents but IMO I don't think that is what happened. Momochi got the momentum after punishing Abel's mistake in Rd2 or rather after the hurricane crossup. Rd3 Momochi just played more aggressively.
For myself sometimes, playing safe and conservatively against some opponents doesn't work too well for me in Rd1. So I'll decide to be more aggressive which many times shifts the pace to where I feel in control.

Yeah, players of Momochi's caliber often take the first round a bit easy to scout ahead for any weaknesses they might spot in their opponent's gameplay.
I'm not saying that Momochi lost a round on purpose but he was definitely playing slightly more defensively and passively but by the second and third round he had that Abel figured out and where the openings for the combos are. The top players know each other's styles well while they might not have played too often against lower ranked ones.
