  • There is no way that Firebird with all the emissions controls could beat a hemi powered anything.

That 455 can't possibly be stock.

  • @Trendyrapslut You know how it is. One tester gets this and the other does this.

  • @zLOSTNOMOREz you must've edited that text. I've got a book that covers ALL firebird and it says 14.25 for '74 with a 3.08 rear end ratio. Now '73 with a 3.42 rear ran a 13.54. torque actually went up by 5 ft lbs in '74 but weight went up some. horsepower stayed the same

  • @Trendyrapslut 1973 Trans Am 13.54@104.29 455 SD 310HP automatic 3.42-Hot Rod 6/73.

(1974 SD TA) From HR and Car and Driver. "Production test cars yielded 1/4 mile times in the 14.5 second/98 MPH range in showroom tune – curb weight of 3,850 pounds and the rated 290 SAE net horsepower"later dynoed at 271hp. Less cam less compression in 74 meant less HP and torque,no stock 74 SD ran in the 13's in factory trim. You can tune anything to B fast but N stock trim, the way it is is the way it is!

  • @zLOSTNOMOREz like I said, they were tested for low 13s

  • @Trendyrapslut That was from a 1974 road test.

  • @zLOSTNOMOREz an sd-455 does not run 14s as seen here. they were tested for low 13s

  • @moparXdarren that's because you both don't know what you're talking about.

  • love the white walls on the gtx!
