This is my cover version of the seminal 80`s New Romantic anthem "Fade To Grey". Originally written by M Ure, B Currie and A Payne and performed by "Visage".

I have tried to stay as true to the feel of the original as I can but a cover version should never be just a carbon copy of the original song. It should be an artistic tribute to a song, band or artist that effected and influenced you in a profound way! For better or for worse, that`s what this is.

I wanted my version to sound like a new song, never written before and yet sounding vaguely familiar. I hope I managed to achieve that, but at the end of the day it is what it is. A tribute to some damn fine musicians!

The video was made using "iclones" and "CrazyTalk" software. Compositing and editing were done using "Magix Movie Edit Pro" The CG characters are mostly people I know but you might just recognise Midge Ure singing Backing vocals. He looks so different with long black gothic hair!

I Hope you like my humble little song and vid. Let me know what you think, good or bad.

Regards... Judas Sane

  • ...oh and the opening JSM intro made me just burst out laughing! You're a nutter! (I nicked that word from my British friend PRBoyd...I hope it means crazy in a GOOD way...lol)

    Joy

  • @LeopardJoy That`s exactly what "nutter" means and I take it as a compliment. I just wanted a spoof of the MGM logo with the lion roaring and this worked so well. Glad it gave you a laugh, that was the sole intention. Thanks for watching, commenting and supporting my humble works. You`re one in a million. x

  • Glenn...this is such a cool concept video!! First, love your cover of Fade To Grey, and then these animations (I will have to find out how you do later because the overall look is so cool)...depicting the story in such an imaginative way. And I LOVE your guitar playing in this! I am jealous, Glenn :) I can barely put two chords together I'm such a noob! I'll at least SHOW everyone my new Jackson DK2 today on the Lounge show...she's a flippin' beauty

    Love and RESPECT,

    Joy/the Leopard Lounge

  • @LeopardJoy Thank you once again for your awesome comments. This video was a painstaking task because I could only place one character on screen at a time in the program. I was just using a demo version of iclone 2 at the time. As for my guitar playing? All I can say is thank god for "record and loop"! There`s no way at this point I could play that live! I`m a singer and a composer more than a musician but I don`t let that stop me creating a song.

Love and Respect right back atcha!

  • I really like the video, good feel to it, liked the missing people coming in out of the walls worked well.

Great cover too, think i spotted you on the wall poster, neat touch.

  • Thanks so much for your really nice comments. I`m a rank amateur with iclone and with music, so it`s great when someone likes my humble efforts.

Have a great day. All the best,

  • Thanks for your comments!

I just modified the skin tones and clothing etc in iclones for each individual character in the options menu (where you can change clothing, hair etc). Originally they were going to be transluscent as well, but I wasn`t able to pull that off successfuly.

  • Thank you! x x x

  • Really imaginative video. How did you desaturate the colour from the figures?
