The Buffalo Bill Historical Center has done it again. They've found another fascinating artifact from the popular history of the West. In this video, some folks mourn the loss of a favored tree through song.
They mourn so hard that except for the female leads who continue to smile, it would appear that the acting and singing in this video was some form of coerced labor or slavery. Whether these poor musicians are enslaved or it is simply a part of the performance is unclear. What is clear is that the Buffalo Bill Historical Center does not condone slavery, just as William F. Cody himself, didn't condone slavery. He was, in fact, the son of an abolitionist and supporter of the Union during the Civil War.
