  • Actually, it sounds right to me. I just said that so that it might incite a possibly better explanation. The surface on each side of the slab of quartz is neutral because the two silicons (on the right half) are placed in just the right position so that their effect on the right surface is equal to that of the oxygen.

  • This guy's explanation of why the quartz is initially neutral is all wrong.

  • instead of using his hands and foot for pointing out the directions of a three dimensional cartesian system, he'd do that more efficiently with three fingers, yet he did a very good job at explaining the piezoelectric effect
