It's not about having the Nuts, it's better to have sense. You had the sense not to do it. He's simply coming down to fast. The box should be in LO and the gear be 1st and not using brakes. It's pretty basic stuff that he needs to learn before going offroad anywhere never mind overlanding in Africa. luckily it was a soft ground as descents like that in a precious vehicle can be costly to the vehicle, equipment and occupants. Check another guy doing the same hill properly in the video response

I took both those videos on the same day :-)
Paul did get told off as you can hear - about keeping off the brakes - I'm sure the next time he did it, he did a better job.
He was in Lo Lo, but just hit the brakes - I guess the higher speed at the top (when he was off the brakes) was due to the huge weight difference between the bare 40 and packed 80

Packed with gear and probably no idea how to use it properly - judging by the uncontrolled descent.

You can't appreciate the steepness of the slope from the video (only 1 person has ever managed to ascend this hill)- yes it was packed as it would be for the overland - rather practise here than in the middle of Africa.
Unfortunately not everyone immediately knows everything about off-road driving (unless you are a very special person I guess), and some of us have to learn through trial and error.
Hats off to Paul for having the nuts to do the hill. I didn't as I haven't enough experience yet!
