  • One of my fondest boro memories. First ever live boro game and I was in the Holgate with my dad. Was on tv 3 times . Wish I could get a copy of this on DVD !! Good old days, when players really did play for the love of the club !!

  • mogga at his best !!! was in the south east corner for this one and saw a villa fan knocked off a seat with a well thrown pork pie to the temple !!!! great memories !!!

  • Amazing scenes. Cheers for sharing this one.

    Up the Villa

  • Tony Mowbray - legend, go on mOGGA..

  • What area's are you referring to Robin?. I do recall that tragic era when channel 4 covered that NFL Season when the Chicago Bears we near on unbeatable, and nobbers at my school did Breakdancing at dinner times and the likes but this is Middlesbrough we are talking about mate, football will never be replaced as the number one sport in the town. We do happen to have some of the worlds top billiards players but other than that football is the creed up here.

  • That wasn't what a lot of people thought back then, when there were endless whines about the tiny amount of live football reducing attendances (mind you, this was the time when, in certain non-football-heavy areas, American football was actually at least as popular, if not more so, among children).

  • mogga...legend.

  • it was. One of the biggest fiddles ever the official crowd was about 16000. The taxman believed it though!. I'll never forget the buzz around school when ITV announced it was screening its first live game outside the top division. I was 13 at the time. Not quite as good as moggas against everton in the cup as a moment but more important and totally deserving of the great man. Strange how live football used to increase the crowd in them days rather than reduce it
