Brandon Roy, C-Captain of the Portland Trail Blazers basaketball team, along with his strength and conditioninig coach Travelle Gaines, give a how to on the resistrance band walking lunge. ""That's the drill that works for hip flexibility for core strength. It squeezes his core while performing the the exercises and then with the Russian twist. It also works for side oblique muscles. Basketball is such a grappling sport we're you're swiping at people or grabbing rebound down by and so you have to be really strong in your oblique muscle so that is why we're doing the Russian twist and then the bashes add extra resistance for more hip flexibility in all our legs. I always coach the athlete to step over their calf every time doing a lunge. You always want your chest up and your shoulders back at all time because it forces your hips. They come down more and you get a more mobility and flexibility hips how I’m suppose they can be. When I step forward, I take the ball to the opposite side. The following get with their eyes and then repeat to the other side. We typically do four sets,ten yards.""
