@rainintheface100 Russia would have lost if it wasn't for the Brits and the Yanks. No less than 1/3 of the German army was on the eastern front the entire war. The truth is without any of the 3 factions you named the Germans would have been able to greatly concentrate their forces and beaten any 2 of them. It was a group effort, it's just sad what happened to Russia after WW2

Britian has always depended on the USA, and the USA had always depended on Britian, except in 1774

@rosemarie443 Certainly, after the fall of France, Churchill's foreign policy was very much focussed on bringing America into the war. Let's not forget, though, that you were physically attacked before joining.

I do not believe, that Churchill ever said that the USA saved us. That is a popular American myth that we reject.

Indeed, we won the Battle of Britain without any American assistance, and in doing so, preserved the launchpad by which Western Europe would be liberated.

@rosemarie443 I know a great deal about the NHS reform bill currently going through Parliament.

I understand the complexities of passing such a bill in the light of the Con-Dem coalition currently in power, and I should point out that the NHS costs 8% of our GDP, compared to 16% of America's, making it easily affordable.

The NHS is ranked #2 in the world (behind Netherlands) by the Commonwealth fund, #1 for effective care and #1 for efficiency - an effective and affordable system.

Indeed, if revenge is your aim, then I seriously question America's moral ability to act as the world policeman.

@rosemarie443 Britain has a great military, by far the most professional in the world, but compact. Who are these other countries? China? Russia? They rely on numbers.

The UK is the only country in the world that can match America technologically. Why do you think that America relies on BAE to make so many weapons, including key components of it's F-22 and F-35 fighters?

You're military expenditure is quite simply unwarranted. Nobody needs a military of that price tag.

@BasilFawlty4444 Oh, so you think that by the USA reducing our military and upgrading some of out equipment that we will be safe, think again. NO Britian does not, now there are only 2 other countries that have a splendid mililtary besides the USA. NO it didn't stop 9/11 but it got revenge.
