I have a question, how do you know when it's half the deck? how did you know the middle was 7 of clover...?

@Jamindekker Some people can spot that it's half the deck. I can do that sometimes. However, the point is that the deck is in order to begin with and when you do a perfect shuffle all the cards end up in a pre-determined place. So the first time you do 8 shuffles in a row you carefully find the half way point and _memorize_ the sequence of cards. Once you've memorized it, then you just use the same sequence every time you do eight shuffles.

You probably don't know me. I came to your talk on perfect shuffles, and pythagoras' triangles at Leeds on the 5th. I thought you were amazing! I preferred your speech to Sara Sandler's. Mirrors are hard! Thank you for taking some of your time to come and show us what you could do. You've certainly got me intrigued. I hope to be just like you one day, a lecturer at a university.
