I think him and Marty used to practice with a clean sound a lot because it totally sharpens the technique and articulation so once you kick on the distortion you can sound pretty godlike.

@Endisnigh666 Randy Rhoads had the same philosophy but I disagree. I feel like cleaner sounds are harder to notice mistakes. If you're going to be playing live with a distorted sound, you should practice that way so you know how you need to play to sound right.

That's just shitty. most people never realize there dreams, but to get there, have it within your grasp and bam it's all gone.
