Oh god I loved that man. I used to watch the Farm and Home Hour every morning and just laughed and laughed. Course his stores werent in the best parts of town, I used to shop at the one out in Vestal and that was a rough place. Cas, we miss you. Never be another one like you.

I wish there were still people like Cas Walker

Cas used to live in a modest house near our more upscale area of Knoxville, TN and drove a Nash. He probably could have afforded a Rolls Royce. He waved at everybody that passed by and had a late afternoon TV show that was a scream. I'm not sure if he was serious or not, but had a loyal following.

@tennsmoothie "we'd be better off if we had more black folks eating watermelon." That's why time takes care of dead folks like Walker, Time and generations have changed.

@icom1020 give it a break icom - if we had more people around today like Ol' Cas, our country wouldn't be in the sorry shape that it's in. we'd be better off if we had more black folks eating watermelon.

@amkaplan It was actually a camera shot of a white kid and a black kid eating watermelons. Not sure where ol Cas was going but not cool today. Surprised the stations carried that.

I can barely remember Cas Walker's stores. My grandmother used to shop there all the time and those stamps they had you collected and got free stuff. You all are right, Cas Walker was THE MAN and actually still is in so many ways. I did get to meet him one time at Ciderville Music Store not too long before he died. He was the nicest guy you could ever meet but like in this video, he sure didn't care to speak his mind. We miss you Cas but you'll never be forgotten
