The other thing that isn't mentioned is the score. If Martin had a 3 point lead late, this is a very appropriate call since he wouldn't want Middaugh to have rocks in play. But peeling the guards was the right call and it worked out better than I think even Martin planned.

to 8squared - wouldve been last end, and martin was up some. when youre up a few in the last end you want the front of the house as clear as possible to limit their points. the double peel was the call, getting the one in the rings was just bonus. even double peeling the top and losing one of their own in the rings would have been a good result at that point.

Don't understand that last shot. Red was lying two and the two guards were guarding there own more than the yellow. I don't think they had any intention of hitting the yellow one in the rings out.
