Lumps in the uterus -- so called myomas -- are the most common gynecological condition. About one quarter to one third of the women are affected. Typical symptoms include heavy or prolonged bleeding. Myomas can also affect adjacent organs. If they press on the bladder -- for instance -- they can lead to frequent need to urinate or other dysfunctions. If a myoma node presses on the rectum this may result in constipation. Sometimes pain in the lumbosacral region or the thighs can be traced back to a myoma.
