This is an interesting ferry of the Floating Bridge type. Unusually it only uses its wires as guides and not for propulsion which on this ferry is a set of open paddle wheels. It is interesting to watch as it comes into the landing slipway it reverses the paddle wheels to slow the ferry onto the slipway. The ferry operates across the Rover Dart near Dartmouth in Devon.
i was on this ferry when the cable snapped and we were spinning outta controll and drifting down the river dart! i was on the news

The new one isn't paddle driven, either, so you don't get that "chomp-chomp-chomp" noise when you are berthing at the Dart Marina, or staying at the Dart Marina Hotel.
