Phamed Pholksinger Phranc sings her wonderful song "M-A-R-T-I-N-A" as part of a gay/lesbian comedy show. Dedicated to tennis legend Martina Navratilova, this song appears on Phranc's 1985 debut LP "Folksinger" (long out of print).

  • hey guys, does anyone know the title of the song in which she sings about the girls on her swim team? is it on youtube?

    thanKs ;-)

  • "One of the Girls" on the album "Folksinger." I doubt any video of it is on here, as hardly any old Phranc songs are. She does have her own page here, though.

  • I saw Phranc open for THE SMITHS in the mid 80's....what a show!

There were a handful of hardcore lesbians shouting sweet nothings at Phranc the whole show! I laughed so much, it was great!

  • Yeah - that's the first time I saw Phranc - opening up for the Smiths at the Universal Ampitheater near Hollywood...

One of those rare moments where the opening act blows you away! I love Phranc!

  • Thanks so much - never saw that! If you got more of her, please post! anyway, thanks a bunch and greetings from Berlöin

    Nic

  • Unfortunately that's all I have from Phranc. I wish I had more - she's great. I first saw her as the opening act for The Smiths in the mid-80s and was blown away.

The only other Phranc video I have is "Bloodbath" - and its already available here on YouTube (uploaded by someone else - just do a search for "phranc")...

  • "If anyone should ask me, who's the greatest in lesbian folk? It's P-H-R-A-N-C!"

    Don't you agree?

  • She also opened for Morrissey in '91. She introduced herself as; " I'm just your typical, Jewish. lesbian, folk singer".

She was different even as little kid, I remember her when she got her flat top and combat boots back in the 70 and would shock the neighbors even then. When we played with our GI Joes, she didn't want to play with Barbie!;)
