Beyond Relaxation,
Beyond Meditation

Be Flat.
A New Flatitude

by
Steven Ross
------------------------

Being Flat
is to
Let Go
and
Let Gravity.

Being Flat
is
Exuberant
Non-Activity.

While
Being Flat,
experience
Inner and Outer
Flatness:
Flatness Within,
and a
Oneness
with a
Flat Surface.

Being One with the Surface
is the first step toward
Being Flat.

Sometimes,
when we are
One with a
Flat Surface,
we can see
all the way to the
Horizon.
Nothing is hidden;
we can see our
place in space.

We should
Be Flat
within our own
Personal Space.

One may
Be Flat
at any time,
any place.

Some times
and some places
are more appropriate
than others.

Find a
Flat Spot
where the World is
least likely to
intrude.

It has been proven that
the World is not Flat.
When it comes to Being Flat,
the World is still in the Upright Ages.

Being Flat
goes against
the ways of the World.

The
Flat Position
only requires
Maximum Oneness
with a comfortable Surface,
with one leg (or perhaps both)
kicked off to the side.

At times,
we will be Flattened
by a hard Surface.

Other times, a soft Surface
will shape itself around us.

Petting and stroking
may gently press a loved one
Down toward the Surface;
thus increasing a
Oneness with the Surface,
and
Ultimate Flatness.

Being Flat
and being asleep
are not one and the same,
although
one will often lead to the other.

---------------------------------
THE

FUNDAMENTALS

OF

BEING FLAT
---------------------------------

To Be Flat,
we must Release!

Physical and mental waste
must not be Retained.

Be Empty.

When air rushes out of a balloon,
the balloon becomes Flat.

Similarly,
when air is pushed from our bodies,
we experience
Flat-ulence.

Be Flat-ulent.

Being Flat
is to push away from the Up,
towards the Down.

Be Down.

Breathing during
Flat Time
is important.

Let every exhalation
lead you further
Downward and Outward,
to
Ultimate Flatness.

Be Down and Out.

Movement
should be kept to a minimum
during Flat Time.

Be Immobile.

Abandon all efforts
to develop
a "hard body."

It is easier
for a soft body
to Be Flat and One
with any Surface.

Be Soft.

Onward, upward, up and at em
are the opposite of Being Flat;
they are Anti-Flat.

Be Unmotivated.

Being Flat
is not a competition.

Concepts of
winning, losing, success, or failure
are also Anti-Flat.

Be a Non-Competitive.

Ultimate Flatness
acknowledges nothing.

Be Oblivious.

OBSERVATIONS

Observe Babies and Pets:
They are among the greatest practitioners
of Being Flat.

In exchange for
food, shelter,
and having all of their needs met,
Babies and Pets teach us
Flatness by Example.

Being Flat is not being lazy.
Mere inactivity is False Flatness.

A cover, or a good tucking in,
may aid in Being Flat,
but do not confuse
Being Snug with Being Flat.

Being comfy and cozy
are merely benefits
of Being Flat.

A mantra for Being Flat
is to repeat Flat,
holding the F sound
as long at possible:
Fffflat.

Occasionally ask yourself,
How Flat am I?
The desired response is:
I am soooo Ffflat.

The Universal Sign
for Being Flat
is a flat hand,
palm down,
moving left to right,
accompanied by the sound:
Vvvt.

If Being Flat costs nothing,
then who among us can say
that they cannot afford to Be Flat?

Flat Time
ceases
when the
Need to Be Flat
ceases.

Go Forth,
and
Be Flat.

"Vvvt."

The End.
