Class D Delta Airspace
Hello and welcome to www.faaflighttraining.com today we will continue talk about airspace, and the different categories of airspace.
In today's episode we focus on class D Delta airspace.
Here we have KHWO North Perry Airport in front of us.
This is a class D airspace, this particular class D is very busy, here is a lot of flight training going on, and to the north is FT Lauderdale International Airport, and to the south we have Opa Locka, and Miami International Airport.
So KHWO North Perry is actually a class d airspace below class B airspace, if you climb through KHWO Class D airspace, you will enter Miami Class B at 2500 ft MSL.
Class D airspace is from surface up to 2500 ft MSL.
All class D airspace has an operational control tower.
Before entering Class D airspace you need to establish two-way radio communication, to get clearance to enter and operate inside the airspace.
To operate VFR in Class D airspace you need to have at least 3 statute miles visibility and cloud clearances of at least 500 feet below the clouds, 1000 ft above, and 2000 ft horizontal to clouds.
And when it comes to maximum speed inside class D airspace, it is been authorized by ATC to fly 200 KTS unless you have faster.
