@fctorino I remeber reading somewhere that until the forties and fifties , people used to do Srartham (rites) for their forefathers at the Cooum. The river was that much clean and sanct . Those days people , including politicians wanted just as much was required for their everyday lives , not crorers and crores for luxuries. Simple life, unwired , unstressed and honest and hardworking

I suppose this is video is in remembrance of things past. But I am wondering if the river then had a bad odor as it does today? Were the streets as clean as they appear to be? What happened, and why did Chennai get so dirty?
