I wash/bath my rottie once a week with medicated dog shampoo.

What you need:
-1 pet shampoo (I use HOSS GLOSS from http://www.troylab.com.au, because it is great for eliminating dog odour, fighting against baterial or fungal infections, cost $11 for 1 litre, last 66 washes or 16 months)
-1 large bucket filled with warm water for rinsing
-1 small bucket filled with warm water, containing the medicated shampoo mixture
-2 cotton buds to be gently stuffed into your pet's ear to prevent water from entering
-2 clean towers, one for washing and massaging and one for drying

I wash my rotty once a week with medicated pet shampoo. The regular wash really helps with maintaining a strong bond with your dog, and also a great way to groom him.

I try to keep the process under 5 minutes, as you do not want to wash off all his natural fur coating oil.

Gently plug in a cotton bud in each ear.

Always start washing from the top and work your way down. Leave the head last to minimise the chance of water entering the ears and eyes. Thoroughly rub through the body and underside, extra rubbing needed underarm/underleg and around the tail.

I find that if you maintain one hand touching the top of your dog while the other washing him, effectively reduces him shaking off water.

Rinse the dog with warm water quickly, starting from the top.

Use a clean dry tower to dry the head and ear first, then work on rest of the body.

Use a hair dryer to dry it, or take him out for a 5 minute jogging.

Don't forget to unplug the cotton buds, wipe his ear clean with unused cotton.

  • Nice Video. My 5 month old Rotty behaves the same way during his bath.

  • @waywayway51 You probably have heard this but you should NEVER wash a dog more than twice a month if you prob is smell switch to a better diet it actually is less money to just have a good diet cause it help bad breath hair feces and the inside of you doggy but overall your a good guy.

  • @eLDiSa1990 Also make sure you have lots of treats for the little fella to make it a pleasant experience.

  • @eLDiSa1990 Not True.. We have a rottie and he has had a bath since he was a baby. I try to wash him once every 2 weeks. BTW, he is a year old now and has no health issues at all. I've never put any cotton buds on his ears.

  • o boy. a dogs skin has no pours like a humans. they only need washing when they have physical dirt on them. they have a layer of fat and natural oil that u are washing away weekly. if u'r problem is bad odor i highly suggest switching to RAW. best of luck
