Constance McMillen, an 18 year-old senior at Itawamba Agricultural High School, approached her schools administration because she wanted to attend prom with her girlfriend, also an IAHS student, and knew that same-sex dates had been banned in the past. After meeting with school officials, she was told that she and her girlfriend would not be allowed to attend together.
The ACLU have filed a complaint in federal court, asking the court to reinstate the prom for all students at the school and charging Itawamba County School District officials with violating Constance McMillens First Amendment right to freedom of expression.

@ProfMynum well i would have thought one human right is that people have the right to be themself - i'm not saying gay people should rub it in others' faces and stuff, that would be silly, but they should have the right to do whatever, as long as it's not harming anyone or breaking the law, and as far as i know, loving someone of the same sex does neither.

Being Gay or Lesbian is a Biblical abomination...and being this country was founded on Christianity hence the IN God we Trust not in Homosexuality we trust..Hear me out I'm not a homophobe, there are too many gays out there to say you are. All I'm saying is theyre being kind of hypocritical to say that we have to approve of them. They indeed have human rights, but rights to be gay, none exist and I hope none will.
