@RoadCone411 Actually, the Bel Air is longer and wider, but the two cars weigh about the same. The Bel Air is basically an empty shell between the outside and inside of the car. The Malibu is stuffed with collision mitigating reinforcements in some places and energy absorbing features elsewhere.

@tripovermyego fatalities from auto collisions have been dropping for years due to better constructed cars, air bags, seat belts and other safety features.
