What lovely sexual tension.

@Pilgrimsarbour Yes I know. if I would be the housekeeper I wouldn't dare to behave like that. But the whole point of the storie was that she had a mind of her own and said anything that came up in her head. She was the opposite of him. And because he was quite introverterted, never expressing hit feelings the more she rebelled.

I always find this scene frustrating. To me, this is where Miss Kenton badly overplayed her hand. What was she thinking? Didn't she know that being that aggressive would yield a poor result? I have to agree with Stevens here. If you want to be alone, you don't want someone forcing their way into your space, way up in your face, and demanding to know what you're "up to." We could even mark the decline of things from this point on. In the end, though, he was a fool to forever deny such a beauty.

@shirerat1138 I don't agree. They both loved each other very deeply, the scene at the bus stop shows this perfectly. Sometimes human weaknesses like: pride, obstinacy, fear, spite drive into sad-end, love is a risk and non of them took it. When they realised their mistake it was too late for anything ...

@shirerat1138 but he ended up miserable
I'm pleased it is your favourite scene, but it is a base synopsis. I will say again; look at his hand. It is the pivotal moment of the film. His reluctance and ineptitude and desire all encapsulated in the movement of a few fingers. Stunning acting. Sympathetic acting in a gut wrenching scene.
