Intro to the Friday March 7, 1980 airing of "The Wizard Of Oz" on WISH, Indianapolis, IN. The movie preempted "The Incredible Hulk" and "The Dukes Of Hazzard" aired following the movie. No mention of what happened to "Dallas".

  • Maybe "Dallas" was preemted. The movie aired about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

  • @Kartoonkid95 The movie was two hours.

  • Love the CBS "bong" at the top of the hour!!! They need to bring that back!!!

  • I would wait for the movie all year and would get chills of excitement when that rainbow logo would appear - I had a B&W TV growing up and would go over to my cousin's house to watch it in color!!!

  • Wizard of Oz was more magical when it was only on once a year....some movies are like that. Gone With The Wind, Star Wars(ep4 new hope)ET

  • Hulk smash brick road!

  • My 1987 recording of "The Wizard of Oz" also has that rainbow bumper (which was animated by Dolphin Productions, Inc).

  • I loved the Hulk, but The Wizard of Oz only came on once a year, so I didn't mind. The Wizard of Oz was a big deal for me and my cousins. We would have a huge sleepover on the Friday it came on.

  • @in2runningks That's right. The Friday evening before St. Pat's.

  • @Kartoonkid95 No... I remember this. I remember this day and everything. So yeah... Dallas did come on that night :-)

  • CBS always broadcasted the Wizzard of Oz in March. For many years, I thought the movie had some connection to St. Patrick's Day.

  • seanmc31076, I believe Dallas was simply preempted that night

  • Odd that they followed the movie with "Dukes of Hazzard" instead of "Dallas", which usually aired in the 10pm slot.
