U.S Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) joined 37 Republican senators in introducing a bill to require the administration to issue a construction permit for the Keystone XL pipeline, saying construction of the pipeline could create "up to 100,000 jobs." Alexander said: "Our policy should be: Find more North American oil and use less of it. And allowing construction of the Keystone XL pipeline is a way to find more North American oil. For the first time in 62 years we're net exporters of petroleum products, so, with the Keystone pipeline, we'd have more than we need by importing from our friends, which means our country can make money, instead of spending money, by selling refined oil products overseas."
