Once more this promo video, but now in High Definition (play in 1080p or at least in 720p). Valentina Lisitsa and Michael Fine filmed by Pieter de Rooij, Tonal Ties Productions, C. 2010. Producer Michael Fine comments on Valentina Lisitsa's playing.
In this video Valentina Lisitsa plays a segment of the Cadenza in Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.1, 1st movement, filmed by me in London's Abbey Road Studios, during a solotake recording, as part of Valentina's Rachmaninoff recording project, produced by Michael Fine.
In 2009 I wrote in a blog-message ( see http://www.tonalties.nl/wordpress/?p=307 ) that Valentina's playing is "totally dedicated and with full commitment, always daring and capable to push the boundaries of what seems possible with the music, whether it's from Chopin, Beethoven, Liszt or Rachmaninoff." In this 'promo' a comment of renowned producer Michael Fine on the unique rich tone of the one and only Valentina Lisitsa. He says: "I came to realise that this extraordinarily nice young woman is one of the best pianists I've ever heard. I always describe her as a combination of a Wilhelm Backhaus-like physical strength, depth of tone, seriousness of purpose and add to that the flair and virtuosity of Martha Argerich. So, this somehow impossible combination exists in this young woman."
