@konstantinos1012 That's right, they can change the pitch of the blade's hydraulically without changing Engine Rpm, reducing cavitation, loss of horsepower and increasing speed.

Sweet video! When I was a kid my dad took me around below the stern of a drydocked Huron class destroyer in the Canadian navy and I got to see the the props and rudder, but they were fixed pitch as I recall. Pretty awesome sight to a 7 yr old!

@adamwoodhouse Large marine propellers do not rotate that fast, typically less than 200 rpm, and if you were standing in front of one of the blades when it began to turn you'd just be flipped out of the way.
