Every year around the third Saturday in October, the Empire Ranch Foundation and the Bureau of Land Management hold an open house on the Empire Ranch in Sonoita, Arizona. This event demonstrates the day-to-day activities of a working ranch--cutting and calf roping, sheep and goat herding by cattle dogs, horse shoeing, and so on. Admission is free; a $10 per vehicle parking donation is requested.

  • Went to the Empire Ranch Open House yesterday and it was great. I got an autograph from Don Collier who was on one of my favorite tv shows called the High Chaperel where he play the part of Sam. All the activities were very well organized and there were a lot of them. The lipzar(sp) stalions were supposed to be there but the were sick and di not make it. That broke my wife's heart but she still had a good time. Everyone who love western history must go ! ! !
