Marion Jones receives 6 months in jail

She went to jail because she deposited $200,000 into her bank account from a phony check and another $10,000 before that. Kind of dumb, but a few banks did fall for it and cashed the checks.

Marion was not required to answer any questions under the Constitution. When the Feds brought the evidence she decided to bargain.

She was not prosecuted for check fraud and grand theft. Those carry way bigger penalties in the states she cashed checks from a stranger's checkbook.
