Jan. 11 - Track star Marion Jones was sentenced in a federal courthouse in White Plains, NY, to 6 months in jail for lying to federal prosecutors. U.S. District Court Judge Kenneth Karas imposed the sentence after Jones pleaded guilty to two charges last October, when she retired from athletics and tearfully confessed to betraying the trust of her fans after years of denying she used performance enhancing drugs. Pavithra George reports.

  • she didn't just lie about it. she was crying and making a huge deal about people accusing her, and then months later we find out that the whole thing was a lie. and then she spouts all this crap about standing for what is right?!? What about the athletes that worked their entire lives that lost to her over the years?

  • at least she has the balls to come forward, what about those who got medal and have come forward.

    where are the Germans ?

  • people do mistakes but eventually they understand it.you are still my favorite athlete.

  • people shouldn't be hating on her. she is now a very good motivational speaker and you can learn a lot from her. as least she has the guts to say something. most people would just let it go and live their live with a lie like that so quit hating on her. she is a great inspiration.

  • @fcredsox The entire society cheats everyday and regular people supports it. So its not about individuals messing up but an American culture that has gone badly in the wrong direction!!

  • @fcredsox as far as the big races, her competitors were doing the same thing

  • She went to prison for 6 months for using steroids, yet i sit in front of the t.v. and see ads for drugs that are much worse. Not to advocate roids in any way, but to point out the fact that she only went to prison because she hurt the reputation of the U.S. Let's point out the fact that if every baseball player using roids was kicked out, MLB would lose big bucks

  • arrogant , self-important, delusional..."I stand for what is right" ? Hey Marion you stand for everything that is WRONG in sports... Then you go Oprah and LIE your ass off again.

    Please disappear.

  • @killahoe62 we only do track that's y we have it, compared to the size of usa we don't have the resources like u to do everything, yea we know ben johnson was a junkie, and many other american top athletes, cough, carl lewis

  • @ariesblack78 so what? That says a lot about your morality. Talent can only take you that far. Without steroids, she would very probably never have won all those medals, money and fame. Are you saying that as long as you've got talent, go take steroids cause you deserve them?

  • @UpInSmokeeee she was sent to jail for lying to a federal court, not for using. Unfortunately, use of steroids is not punishable by law, only by athletic federations.
