Personally I am in broadly in favour of a broad secular agenda, but what matters more to me is freedom of speech. I was very disappointed in PZ.

what the fuck is this.. I'm an apathiest freethought and I expected to see some wealthy scientest who is more like the vulcans on star trek and who hardly ever sits down and has discovered that he/she is the harbengier of their own destiny and has devoted all of his intellegence and inttelectual skills to making humanity better like myself, and here I am seeing what I thought was the factual state of our intelligence being turned in to this excuse to freckle around in petty self 'enlightening'

Because apparently they're on the defense, even when they go onto a tangentially related video or thread and start mouthing off about Militant Atheists without even replying to any particular comment. This video alone contains very little topical content yet I've seen a very persistent poster doing exactly that. Apparently on an open medium, expressing opinions among like minded people is militant.

I think the term "Militant Atheist" is used with far too much ease, to the point where it actually begins to undermine any true objections. The way "militant Atheist" is thrown around already makes the person using it look like a buzzword puking idiot even if it isn't the case, making people less likely to treat a person using it with any civility or respect. Most objectors also don't concede that their aggressive use of the term is also militant, often accompanying accusations of Nazism.

How come 'Militant Christian' means a Christian that uses violence to achieve his goals, 'Militant Muslim' means a Muslim that uses violence to achieve his goals, but 'Militant Atheist' means an atheist that writes books and posts mean things on Youtube?
