@bender5836 I'll be honest. Besides before the invasion of char, it felt much less dark than SC and Brood war. A couple of gruesome scenes don't change that.Hopefull HotS will bring that dark theme to shine again. Of course that's my opinion anyways but most would agree on that.

this song reminds me of when im playing dawn of war as the Imperial guard, sometimes the enemy completly overruns my infantry, and to stop them I have to call dawn massed artilery fire on my own men becuase they are so entangled...tactic usually takes out the enemy all at once , at a cost of coarse.

@Nemesis0300 What are you talking about? the gritty scenes are still there in sc2! The scene in which raynor kills the doctor or the scene right before the invasion of char were very dark. The tv newscasts displayed the actions and clearly showed a state run news scrambling to defend the mengsk regime! Those are just a few examples with more to come in the coming expansions.

The only thing that Starcraft 2 was missing was the dark and depressing feel of frightening war. Starcraft was a serious game about politics and war; drenched in a feeling of melancholy.
The wet darkness and fear reminds me of Vietnam; The political struggle with a dash of communistic flavor reminds me of the Cold War; And the feeling of inevitable doom against all odds reminds me of the Great Wars.
This game was a masterpiece.
