2000 Audi A6 4.2 liter V8. Trying to start the engine after replacing timing and accessory belts, spark plugs, and coolant temperature sensor. The belts move a few centimeters, come to a dead stop, then a clicking sound is emitted from the engine compartment.

The battery might be the culprit. It was dead. The built in hydrometer eye is black. Charged with a charger. But instrument gauge shows it at 9 Volts max.
