@RafaHidalg0 No it's more about serving the songs, if the songs don't ask for intricate drumming giving Taylor no choice to play more elementary.
But if he didn't like doing that, he would have left Foo Fighters long ago. It becomes very clear in every interview you look up that he enjoys being a Foo Fighter to the fullest.

I couldn't agree more that Taylor doesn't play so well with the Foo Fighters...I don't know why it is, but it's very strange to mere, how much nuance and feel he brings to this song and yet in the Foo Fighters he's like a boring truck ploughing through the songs...His playing here is magic
