  • I will keep my 1984 Translation of The NIV, it is a very good version and I will try to get a HCSB bible as we are trying it in Church. Why did have to change a thirty year standard that was doing so well. The old NIV I read is my favourite at the moment but I am trying to keep a rotation up in order that I get strong knowledge of God's word. I do find the CEV and NLT a little watered down where the old NIV hits hard. Shame they watered it down.

  • If people would actually read the updates they made, they wouldn't be so judgmental. The updates they made was for more "gender-inclusive" language, what she is saying is important. The word "man" now is taken to understand a male, not mankind. The NIV update uses mankind, and when it uses plural form "they", it is when the human race as a whole is talked about. Seriously people, stop judging. I used the NLT, and am switching to the NIV, because it helps me understand better the Word of God.

  • @ej1960 I agree. I had used the NIV for 20 years and recently bought a KJB and started comparing many textual differences. Beyond all of the blog arguments about the source manuscripts, I would suggest to people who are examining the different versions to decide for themselves. Is God a God or order? Does he want you to be confused? No. When did the Bible start becoming confusing? When all of the new versions came out and began attempting to cast doubt.

  • @ 4:35 she starts saying every word of God's word is important; which is a massive understatement since Luke 4:4 tells us that man lives by every word of God, then she proceeds to say that she recommends the ESV and the HCSB which of course have different words! Study to shew thyself approved unto God...Learn the origin of these bibles and take this challenge; Use only a KJB for 7 weeks then use it side by side with your other version for a few weeks and then decide which is the word of God.

  • I'll stay with my KJV, thank you! I noticed the changes ALL the other versions made when I was just a boy in sunday school, then as I got older I learned why they made all those changes. It's called copyright laws! They have to be different or it's not allowed to be printed. The KJV has no copyright law, you can make a copy of the whole KJV and put it on a web-site. God owns it, it is a free gift from God, and it says all you need to know to be saved, and lead others to Jesus Christ!

  • Im gonna be blunt! I feel that any Bible that a person can understand and live by is a good book! Please dont cloud and discourage folks from reading a Bible that they can understand because its not the right thing to do and its a heck of alo better reading and living thru the Bible than spending time reading porography or even believing the lies that the daily news media is airing!

  • Yeah, I have the NIV, THE NRSV, etc + my 30 year old NAB translation. The variations translations, far from disturbing me, help understand the Catholic Church's Teaching which we believe with certitude is the real and FULL Christanity. Even Lutherans now accept homosexuality. I told one of their Pastors(who opposes homosexuality) that he should be the next Pope! We both laughed. John 6, 51- 69 is what Scott Hahn(on U-Tube) now knows it real & Catholic meaning. You have lost so much! Thanks.

  • Get a Catholic Bible. It has more books in the Old testament. You can therefore discipline your kids with a whack more effectively via the Catholic Bible. LOL. Seriously, "Sola Scriptura" makes for all sorts of interpretations. You Protestants need a "Pope" and an Authoritative Teaching, otherwise the translations will never give you certainty. I don't worry about reading the NIV(newest translation) because I know what Christianity teaches; the Holy Spirit guides the Holy Father into all truth!

  • I wasn't aware bibles had several versions until recently, but I've been trying to find the perfect bible for me. My bible I had for years were nkjv n kjv. I did not understand kjv but nkjv was good. I really like ESv and niv too. I'm reading the niv on my iPad right now, but I feel lthat ESv was meant for me.
