  • About as intense as it gets. Pertile deserves a prominent place among the great Otellos (and great tenors) of all time, which would include giants such as Tamagno, Martinelli, Zenatello, Vinay, and Del Monaco. Thanks for sending my way.

    GRAZIE !

  • PERTILE E POI VICKERS I MIGLIORI INTERPRETI DI SEMPRE.

  • The greatest tenor ever, but these telefunken recordings were made a little too late in his career. He'd lost the sheen, all of the purely vocal qualities that made him so special. Left are his interpretive ones, which are fantastic!

  • @meltzerboy As well as Melchior, Merli, and Zanelli.

  • @AulicExclusiva Welcome to the club!

  • @meltzerboy Grrrrrrrrrr.

And I hadn't seen my similar, earlier comment. I'm losing it, I tell you.

  • @AulicExclusiva Very true. So Toscanini had some taste, after all, even if not in his conducting?

  • @meltzerboy A deeply felt, deeply moving interpretation. This is not a scene for pretty vocalising, after all. And yet his phrasing is full of tortured beauty.
