NAVITIME, a roadmapping service that lets users enter their starting point and destination and it will display the optimal route. Currently available on PC and mobile phones around Japan.

"This service shows various combinations of methods to get to your destination. Not only by train but also on foot and by car."

If your cell phone has GPS it can show the optimal route from your current position.
It's useful for your day to day life, business trips, and even for planning vacations. Other functions include map search and "last train" information.
When using its "surrounding neighborhood" search it will display the shops and facilities within a 2km radius.
NAVITIME is available for 210 yen a month, NAVITIME Pro for 315- however map search and train navigation including the "last train" are available for free.
