  • Hi Aussie50, this is exactly what I wanted to know. I have one pump from a fridge I found dumped in the bush, it pulls 28inches Hg...I want to boil water at room temperature. Also, isn't 30Inches Hg absolute vacuum anyway.. ?

  • I'm not an expert on vacuum but I think we can go lower than 30in/hg. HVAC vac pumps pull 500 microns on AC systems before they are charged with gas.

I haven't been able to boil water itself at 30in/hg, but thats according to my old gauge.

  • Maximum Vacuum attainable at Sea level is 29.921 In/mmg If you are higher than that it diminishes roughly 3.5% per 1000 ft above sea level. :)

  • yeah, its sort of an aussie tradition to drink in the garage, but if I have a big machining job to do I do it first.

no use scrapping a complicated part because of a minor miscalculation. or getting wrapped around the spindle to that matter.

  • Very good idea!! clean and nice work...

  • thanks man!, the music in the vid is from the game Unreal, very cool music. I still have the original s3m and it (Screamtracker and impulsetracker) files

  • NICE SET UP ,cool music to i like jamen

wordles tones when im realy hittn it hard

  • very nice setup.

  • unfortunately i don't have a working VFD at all :( but I have done a few torture tests with normal AC power and no oil but their not very dramatic, just binds up the motor bearing and stops it.

I'd love to rev them to 2 - 3 X their normal speed and see them shatter :D.

I'll belt drive one off the 2HP brook motor some day before I run the big scroll.

  • I have an idea, if you have a working vfd that goes to 400Hz, hook three of these danfoss compressors to it, one on each phase, drain the oil and then turn them up to the highest speed u can get and then let them run till they seize up. ;)
