The Octopus, launched in 2003, measures 127m (416ft) and used to be (and might still be) the worlds largest Yacht.
It cost Allen over $ 200 Million and has a permanent crew of 60 including several former Navy Seals. It has two helicopters, seven boats, a 10 man submarine and a remote controlled vehicle for crawling on the ocean floor. The submarine has the capacity to sleep eight, for up to two weeks submerged under the ocean surface.
On average, owners must spend a minimum of 10 % of the purchase price every year to keep these Yachts in good working condition and cover crew salaries. Therefore the Octopus requires a $ 20 Million annual budget.
The Octopus was built in Kiel and Bremen, Germany.
I watched an interview w/Paul Allen recently and he seemed like a spoiled and bitter prick. He ranted against Bill Gates, but it seems that BG and MG are really trying to help the world and not see how many expensive distractions they can accumulate

Boy oh boy, the CIA's toys just keep getting more and more expensive. This boat is a decoy of what really goes on with its capabilities. That yellow submarine and other toys aren't used by her owner. Anyone remember the ship that was supposedly owned by Howard Huges back in the 50-60's? It was operated by the CIA to capture sunken Soviet subs, yet it was titled in the name of Howard Hughes. History always repeats itself.

In case anyone's wondering, the song is Quiero Saber by Benji Candelario, featuring vocals by Leedia Urteaga.
