Nominations for the 84th Academy Awards were announced live on Tuesday, January 24 by Academy President Tom Sherak and Academy member and Oscar-nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence.

@ohfilms1 true but it was distributed by the Weinstein Company! Which is American! Besides foreign language films can be nominated for Best Picture as well for example films like Life is Beautiful, Or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon!
