The FIDE Women's Grand Prix 2009--2011 was a series of six chess tournaments exclusively for women, which formed part of the qualification cycle for the Women's World Chess Championship 2011. The winner of the Grand Prix (the one with most Grand Prix points) was to challenge Hou Yifan - the 2010 Women's World Chess champion in the third quarter of 2011. As Hou Yifan also won the Grand Prix, Koneru Humpy as the runner-up qualified for the 2011 championship.

La Federación Turca de Ajedrez en colaboración con la FIDE y Global Chess está organizando la primera prueba del nuevo Grand Prix Femenino 2009/2010. El torneo se disputará en Estambul (Turquía) a partir del 6 de marzo de 2009. También será el segundo torneo de una serie organizada por la Federación Turca de Ajedrez para recordar al fundador de la República Turca, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

Aprovechando el torneo, los organizadores mostrarán su proverbial hospitalidad y albergarán la reunión del primer trimestre del Consejo Presidencial de la FIDE entre el 5 y el 8 de marzo. El patrocinador del acontecimiento es Türkiye İş Bankasi.
