Long tom gold sluice in action

Paul loading the Back packable 10 foot long-tom sluice box and bucket tram. Old school style gold mining in remote locations. Sluice, hopper and flume pipes fold up and fit onto a standard external backpack frame(backpack pouch removed). Rope and tram wheels fit into another external frame backpack.

You got some violent water running over those riffles There..Ide be settling that down a bit..

We ran the box at various speeds durring the weekend and found that the speed shown in the video was optimal for this rig. The riffles are 1" high and 6" apart and the whole box is 10 feet long.

Not as good as we hoped, but hey, that's how it is. We found some nice fines (dust) and one little flake. This was the first trial run of the box. We hiked it in about half mile. Since it caught the smallest stuff, I figure the design works. Just need to dig in a better spot....

@SantiThomasMiningCo That's amazing, because it looks WAY too fast. One thing you should try on a fast sluice, is clean it often, because the gravel may knock out most of the gold you catch, so whether you run it for 10 minutes or 10 hours, you may have the same amount of gold, when you clean it.

lol all that work work for one flake? i dug with a shovel and got like a lot of fines and flakes for my first ever time out, time to get a dredge, gravity or sniping tool what the fuck ever, i found gold and my 1 flake of gold is lonely and hard to show off, im going back into the stream tomorrow hopefully, with a bad case of gold fever. =D

This was a fun weekend, This was a small cave in northern Californa. It went back about 17 feet and and had a hole about 4 feet deep.
